“Potence” style lamp

After seeing this on the-brick-house, I decided to take a crack at making my own version of a Potence lamp and here’s what I came up with messing around a few hours after work.

The lamp is made with 1/2″ steel tubing and steel flat  bar.

The handle is made out of a scrap piece of mahogany that i turned on the lathe.

I used cloth-covered wire that I bought from sundial wire , and electrical plugs and fittings from Lowes.

I know it’s not perfect but it was a quick first attempt. If I make more, I know some better ways to do things but for now I’m satisfied with the lamp.

Very, very nice. I know that this is your first protype, even though it looks great, you will make another better. Do you provide DIY instruction so I could make one myself?

  7. The Potence lamp was love-at-first sight for me, and will probably always be a love unrequited… Wow, but this makes it seem at least a BIT more attainable! :)
